I-70 Lane Closures for Sound Barrier Repair
ODOT is closing the right lane of eastbound I-70 near State Route 202 from October 21-29 for sound barrier wall repairs, plus the SR 201 exit ramp on October 22. Plan for delays if you commute that way.
Chambersburg Road widening coordination
The city will apply for $750,000 in state funding to widen Chambersburg Road east of Bellefontaine Road to three lanes with curbs, water main, storm sewer, and a bike path. Construction wouldn't happen until 2028.
SR 202 / US 40 intersection capacity
Multiple speakers said the intersection at State Route 202 and US 40 is too tight for the oversized trailers this facility would move, with no turn lanes and no room to maneuver. ODOT reportedly has no widening plans and wasn't even aware of the project.
Charlesgate Road gap closure
A ~445-foot road connection joining the two stubbed ends of Charlesgate Road, with curbs, sidewalks, and utilities — construction starts by September and should wrap up by December 2026.
State Route 4 resurfacing
ODOT will resurface Route 4 through the city from mile marker 23.16 to 25.14 in fiscal year 2027 — at no cost to Huber Heights.
Chambersburg Road Closure
Chambersburg Road closes Thursday from about 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to connect waterways under the road near Andicott, with a Fishburg Road detour.
Buc-ee's traffic and highway signage
Commissioners flagged weekend traffic jams at the new Buc-ee's — people can't get out of the lot, which backs up folks trying to get in. The city is working with ODOT on better signage on westbound I-70 and signal timing tweaks at the Center Point 70 exit.
Powell Road closure and S-curve straightening
Powell Road near the FOP lodge closes starting March 16 for about 11 weeks — plan alternate routes.
Brandt Pike Traffic Signalization Study
Brandt Pike's aging traffic signals are the city's biggest traffic headache. The proposed CybrCastle AI pilot would install cameras at eight intersections and let artificial intelligence adjust light timing in real time, with a path to expand citywide if it works. Council Member Kitchen wants the dangerous Chambersburg Road intersection included before she'll vote yes.
